Quick Start – Q-SYS Plugin for Luminex GigaCore Switches

Introduction

The Luminex GigaCore Q-SYS plugin allows monitoring and configuration of Luminex GigaCore Gen 2 switches directly from a Q-SYS design.
The plugin is available here:

The plugin communicates with the GigaCore switch using:
  1. REST API for configuration actions
  2. WebSocket subscriptions for real-time status and state synchronization
For more information about supported hardware, refer to the article:

Before using the plugin, ensure that:
  1. The Luminex GigaCore switch is powered on and reachable on the network
  2. The Q-SYS Core is on the same network (or proper routing is in place)

Add the Plugin
  1. Download the plugin (Luminex GigaCore.qplug) from the GitHub repository
  2. Copy the plugin file into the Q-SYS plugins directory, typically:
    C:\Users\JohnDoe\Documents\QSC\Q-Sys Designer\Plugins\
  3. Open Q-SYS Designer
  4. Add the Luminex GigaCore plugin to your design
  5. In the plugin properties, select the appropriate GigaCore model

Connect to the GigaCore

On the plugin UI, open the Configuration tab:
  1. Enter the IP address of the GigaCore switch
  2. Enter the username and password, if credentials have been configured
(By default, no username or password is set on the switch)
  3. Click Connect
When connection/authentication is successful:
  1. Device status changes to Online
  2. A WebSocket connection is established automatically
  3. Live data subscriptions start immediately

Port settings

The plugin provides access to the following port-related functions:
  1. Enable or disable individual ports
  2. Enable or disable PoE (when supported by the hardware)
  3. Enable or disable RLinkX
  4. Configure the port legend
  5. Configure port link speed
