MILAN stream format

MILAN stream format

As many of you already know, the MILAN standard uses a specific AVB stream format in order to facilitate interoperability.
Here is a link to a document from MILAN lisiting the specifications of that stream format.

This will help you evaluate what to expect on your audio infrasctructure in terms of abndwidth and compatibility.
A device does not necessarily have to be MILAN certified to operate with other MILAN endpoint, but i has to be able to support the stream format specifications in this document.
For example, AVB can use different types of encoding, MILAN operates only in AAF encoding. So an AVB device that only support AM824 encoding can't interoperate with a MILAN endpoint.

This will also help you evaluate the bandwidth used by your MILAN network.

If you are trying to evaluate the badnwidth that will be used by AVB on your network, we suggest that you have a look at this article :

As always, we hope this helps you with your network design.
